Stoneware Tile - Woodland Flower

This 9 by 9 inch oak framed tile depicts a blooming Dutchman’s Britches plant.  This is one of Iowa’s most delicate and beautiful woodland flowers.  The tile is formed by first impressing the actual plant into soft clay.  After an initial firing the tile is hand painted with colored underglaze, coated with a clear glaze and given a final firing.  The frame is drilled to permit wall mounting.  The tile is part of a series produced by Mapleshade Pottery celebrating Iowa’s prairie and woodland flowers.
